She carries herself like she is “all that”, and has an extraordinarily high opinion of herself, but ask anybody who has ever worked with Mischa Barton or you know, shagged her, and they will tell you that she’s a little bit out there when it comes to the reality of [it] all. The “all” being the life she made for herself by setting unrealistic goals, wanting to be the focus of attention, and not taking ownership for her own fate.
That kind of stuff, and the way we present ourselves on the outside is so to speak, enough to drive anybody nuts and hurt those who are closest to us.
Having said that, the police have forced the 23-year-old former star of “The O.C.” into the psych ward at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and I hear Dr. Phil’s footsteps as he nears the hospital.
Access Hollywood is not saying much about what the story is here, if only because the story is probably being shielded from the press, but one could safely make the assumption that Barton has gone of the deep end and is a risk to herself, and others. Those others being those who are sick and tired of putting up with her shit, and her not dealing with [that] shit.
The fact that she is under psychiatric care against her will is, an indication that Barton is and has been unwilling to deal with her own shit, choosing instead to “take it out” on everything and everybody else.
I know a woman like that, and while I think she needs some serious psychological treatment and perhaps even needs to be medicated (I think she’s bi-polar) to get control of her life better than she has, there is not a damn thing I can do about it. Not that she would ever let me into the deepest, darkest parts of her psyche to begin with. I have made the effort though, with great risk to my personal well-being and emotional state of mind I might add, but to no avail. Like Barton, the woman I am referring thinks she too is, “all that”. But I digress.
What has driven Mischa Barton over the edge, at least in my opinion anyway is, as obvious as the glasses I wear on my face. As far as I am concerned, she has a rather high opinion of herself, that evident by her departure from The O.C. She left The O.C because she thought she thought she was all that, that she was a bigger star than she actually was on the TV drama. The years since she left The O.C. have not been kind to Barton, and these days her star is shining less brighter than it was before she packed The O.C. in. Roles have been fleeting for her, and her entrepreneurial spirit (fashion industry) has taken a beating. Then of course, there are her failed relationships.
Nothing has gone right for Barton since she rode out of The O.C. on her high horse, and the effects of that have obviously weighed heavily on her state of mind, otherwise she would not be in the psych ward.
Mischa Barton is where she is today at her own doing, and try as she might to blame everybody else for what has become of her, the reality of it is that she has nobody to blame but herself, and of course the vices she should to help her cope with her life’s many failures since she left The O.C.
